Large tapestries of rice cakes are made as offerings to Hindu temples.
This rice cake offering was made by grinding 300lbs of rice into flour adding natural dyes for colorings and shaped into figures and deepfried. After they are dry they are attached to a pedestal and a large ornate tapestry is made.
The figurines are a part of religous stories and each tapestry is itself a story. It takes 7 women one week to make this particular size cake. It was taken to the Besakih Temple for a temple anniversary.
