Golden Granaries

In the village of Youdiou, granaries with thatched roofs are used to store millet.

Millet is of vital importance to the Dogon.

Dogon villages are constructed on rock, so as not to waste arable land.

Both men and women work in the millet fields.

They sow millet in June and July, after the rains begin. The millet is harvested in October.
